The story is funny with unforgettable characters like Nicholas who was notorious in many ways and as a lover of historical fiction, it still stays as one of my favorite read of all time. This style of writing is rather more common among writers now but at the time, it was the first I had read it seemed like a big deal. I think it was the first time I was reading a book that allowed different characters to speak and this helped to give different perspectives to the story. I read this book about 12 years ago and what struck me most about it was how distinct and captivating the narrative was. I will be featuring a new favorite every week and I hope you will be interested to read and enjoy some as I have.
