I really didn't mind,the author just wrote them perfectly. I know some people will find this book disturbing because of the heavy mature themes that are addressed here. I've been rumbling a lot so I'll stop here.
I even cried with the little smut scene because they said so many things that never got accomplished 🥲 All flashbacks were so tender, so cute and you just compare it with the present. The supporting characters aren't bad either but the book is very centered in the two mains -no complaints here- so we don't see much of them.īoy did a cry with this book. And -minor spoilers here - he fucking loses his memory? When they are finally reunited? And now he thinks he's a wolf and no a human? And he is now a prostitute what I can't. When you think he's gonna be a little bit better, NO, he gets stabbed, poisoned, drugged or anything worse.
He's just tired of losing people he loves. I think it's soon to say that, but I love him. But here, we see that he loses control easily and has quite some rage inside him. He falls in the cliche of 'stoic, serene men' that deep down are just horny bastards. Mo Xi, the protagonist in this book might be my favourite MC of most danmeis I've read. And I feel this will be worse for my soul (although shorter). But no, she had to write another masterpiece. Mo Xi especially is the kind of complicated character that you immediately fall in love with while also realizing as the story unfolds that due to his noble status he was unable to fully understand everything Gu Mang had gone through.Īnd that ending! Can't even call it a cliffhanger! One second we are in the middle of a battle and the next a new character is introduced and then done! Definitely one of those endings where you're triple checking to see if you somehow missed a page because it can't really end like that! The characters and relationships in Remnants of Filth are as complicated as I was hoping for, the world brutal, and of course full of political intrigue and strict social customs. This isn't a story about two humans that can't communicate, this is a story about betrayal of the absolute most heartbreaking kind. Did it break my heart more? Into freaking pieces. Was this darker than I expected after The Husky and his White Cat Shizun? No.
